A new “Coldtan” interaction is warming hearts and earning praise from BTS‘s fandom, ARMY.
On September 24, 2021, BTS and Coldplay released “My Universe,” a collaboration song and music video. This chart-topper is all about transcending barriers through music and love.

BTS and Coldplay went on to perform “My Universe” on stage at the 2021 American Music Awards and at BTS’s PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA concert.
Now, the groups’ friendship is making headlines again for the most wholesome reason. In a new interview with KiddNation, an interviewer asked Chris Martin about the guitar he gave to BTS’s Jin as a present.
“You gifted your guitar to one of the BTS boys,” the interviewer began. Chris Martin jumped in to clarify, calling Jin by name. “Jin, yeah,” he said.
The interviewer took Chris Martin’s cue and continued, “Do you feel like the other guys looked at you like, ‘Aw dang, Jin got it. Like, what are we going to get now?'”
Chris Martin then explained that he paid “extra respect” to BTS’s eldest member, but Coldplay did give gifts to the rest of the members as well.
Well, Jin is the eldest, so the way I think that Korean culture works is that’s okay to pay extra respect to the eldest, and I think Jin is–as far as I can tell–the most into guitary stuff [. . .] and we did give gifts to everybody, too.

Now, ARMYs are praising Chris Martin for learning about Korean culture, and for stepping in to highlight Jin as an individual rather than allowing him to be, “one of the BTS boys.”

What an awesome guy! I continue to be impressed with Chris Martin and how much he knows about BTS- the fact that Jin is the oldest and gifting the eldest member is being respectful and he said that Jin knows how to play already, lol!

Chris Martin is a class act. Notice how he said Jin, when the guy said “one of the BTS boys”, plus the fact he knows about being the eldest and what it means in korean culture
