BTS will hold a global concert in conjunction with their appointment as an ambassador for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The Busan Metropolitan Government and HYBE signed a memorandum of understanding related to the 2030 Busan World Expo earlier today, June 24 KST. Busan Mayor Park Hyeong Jun, Bang Si Hyuk, and HYBE CEO Park Ji Won were in attendance at the ceremony.
Under the agreement, BTS will not only serve as a goodwill ambassador for the event, but also participate in negotiations with the 170 countries that make up the Bureau International des Expositions, which votes for the host country.
The plan is for BTS to serve as an ambassador during the Bureau International des Expositions committee’s visit to South Korea and even possibly visit Paris, France on the voting day to ask for support from the committee to vote for Busan to host the 2030 World Expo. They will also launch promotional activities online through videos and photoshoots that will be distributed through SNS.
They will also hold a global concert from Busan to support the cause for Busan to host the 2030 event, hoping to attract voters’ attention. The exact date for the concert has not yet been decided. Finally, Busan and HYBE have agreed to cooperate on the development of pop culture and culture infrastructure in Busan.
We will work with BTS to successfully host the 2030 Busan World Expo, which is an important national project. We will also participate in the development of Busan’s local pop culture.
