Recently, it was revealed that the group name “OMEGA X” was suddenly in the process of being trademarked. This is over a year after the group’s debut.

Many FOR X (fans of OMEGA X) suspected that Spire Entertainment was responsible for the sudden trademarking, and it was a method to keep the members as part of the group and company despite the abuse scandal.

Yet, another FOR X pointed out that the Hwang mentioned in the application is not Spire Entertainment Chairman Hwang Seong Woo. He’s actually Hwang Bo Ui, an agent from the Patent and Trademark Office.

Now, it’s been revealed that OMEGA X have legal representatives, S Law Firm, who have been confirmed to accompany them at an upcoming press conference about Spire Entertainment’s abuse scandal. Korean media confirmed that it is actually the members themselves, through their legal representatives, that applied for trademark registration.

According to the trademark registration inquiry of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the application for trademark rights was applied for both OMEGA X’s Korean and English group names as well as the fandom name “FOR X” on November 7. This was the same day Spire Entertainment CEO Kang Seong Hee, who abused the members, allegedly resigned from her position.

FOR X noticed that even the “#PROTECTOMEGAX” hashtag was registered with the group and fandom names. This is the official hashtag used by both the group and fandom to bring awareness to the abuse and mistreatment they’ve faced at the hands of Spire Entertainment.

We couldn’t be more proud of OMEGA X! We hope this means that soon they will be free from Spire Entertainment.

Trademark registration has not been completed yet, and the registration will be decided upon examination.
