Apink released “Mr. Chu” as the lead single for their 4th mini-album Pink Blossom in 2014. The MV has 26M views at the time of writing. The cute, catchy song about a crush is still a bop today!

So, it shouldn’t be surprising that it’s become a trending song on TikTok nearly a decade later. Yet, the reason why might be surprising.

Shou Zi Chew is a Singaporean entrepreneur and businessman. He has been the CEO (chief executive officer) of the video-sharing app TikTok since 2021. Currently, there is a legislative effort to ban TikTok in the United States of America due to data security concerns. So, recently, he testified before the U.S. Congress.

TikTok users don’t just love the app. They love the man behind it now. They are not only praising his responses to U.S. Congress but straight-up simping over him.

They even joke that he’s their new bias and the K-Drama male lead of our dreams.
