BIGBANG‘s Taeyang released his long-awaited album, Down to Earth, on April 25, 2023. One of the songs included in the album, “Shoong!,” features BLACKPINK‘s Lisa, and fans couldn’t get enough of seeing the two charismatic idols performing together.
When opening up about his album to Rolling Stone, Taeyang shared that Lisa agreed to the collaboration “right away.”
Lisa, thankfully, said OK right away and that she wanted to be part of the project no matter what.

But aside from their collaboration which occurred “without any hurdles,” Taeyang opened up about having actually seen Lisa audition for YG Entertainment when she first came to South Korea so many years ago.
One special thing is that when Lisa first came to YG, literally when she first came to Korea, I was there working on music and ended up watching her audition.

At the time, Lisa, who had already been the only person to pass the 2010 YG Entertainment Auditions in Thailand, sang Justin Bieber‘s catchy song “Baby.”

Not only did Taeyang find Lisa’s audition “endearing,” especially given that the idol was only 14 at the time but already working hard to achieve her dream, but he “really wanted her to succeed.”

Fans, too, felt proud of Lisa, especially since she was able to come “full circle” in her collaborations with Taeyang. Before her debut, Lisa had appeared in Taeyang’s “RINGA LINGA” video.
