Recently, the Instagram account of an animal rights organization called CARE posted a report on a man identified as A. According to the report, on June 18, A persuaded his girlfriend, known as H, to leave her apartment. Then around 2 a.m. (local time), he went to her house, killed her cat, and disposed of its remains.

When H returned home, she found it suspicious that her mirror was cracked and her cat was missing. The man claimed he had nothing to do with the incident, so H assumed her cat ran away and went on a two-day search—until she saw her apartment’s CCTV footage. The security footage showed A leaving her apartment with a shopping bag with the cat and what is suspected to be the pieces of the shattered mirror.

When confronted with this evidence, A admitted that he moved the cat’s body but claimed he was too drunk to remember where he disposed of it. However, his actions contradicted his words when it was discovered that A called a taxi and meticulously removed traces of his crime. He did not appear intoxicated in the CCTV footage.

The report also pointed out that the cat could not crash against the mirror to the point where it died—it had to be done by someone else. Seeing the severe damage on the mirror suggested that A violently abused the cat. There were also smeared blood marks on the wall.

A’s suspicious behavior that night, such as telling H to step out of her house, not seeking veterinary aid, and blatantly denying his wrongdoing, suggested that he premeditated and calculated this crime.

CARE claimed that they must find out how A killed the cat and where he got rid of its body, and they emphasized that he needs to be punished appropriately. They filed a complaint against Mr. Kim under the Animal Protection Act.
